autumn on the stove top
We have been having some cooler weather lately and all the chill has gotten me so excited for all the holiday awesomeness that is upon us! So I thought I would give you a recipe I use this time of year to fill the house with the sweet smell of autumn!
What you will need:
a stovetop pot
3 1/2 cups of water
1 orange
1 lemon
1 apple
2 cinnamon sticks (you can also add a few sprinkles of ground cinnamon if you want)
2 bay leaves
a pinch of cloves
Cut up all the ingredients place them in the water filled pot and turn the stove to simmer and all that's left to do is enjoy the sweet spicy smell of autumn!

Autumn favorites - monthly link up
Autumn is here! I LOVE (uh-oh, all caps, you know this is serious!) this time of year! Cool weather beautiful colors (remember when I posted this? I'm so excited for colors like those to take over my little city!) That isn't my house, I took this last year during an afternoon drive through town. How cute is that house though!? A white picket fence, huge trees, AND a tree house!? Oh! By the by I found this little article on autumn vs fall - I don't side with them on either spot as to why I use Autumn over Fall - I just like the way it sounds better... It sounds more autumny - as in hearing both words, I picture the leaves and colors and cooler weather when I hear the word Autumn vs when I hear the word Fall. Which do you prefer?
I'm linking up with Kiki over at in its time and Amber over at under the oklahoma sky for this month's Circle link up!
We are talking all about Autumn favorites!!
My favorite autumn fashion: Definitely scarves and cardigans! I have a plethora of them both, and I've tried to get rid of some of the scarves that I don't wear over the years, but somehow I just can't!
My favorite autumn drink: Not to be cliché, but I do love pumpkin spice lattes... How can I not!? I can't say I am a fan of pumpkin flavored everything though, because I've had some pumpkin flavored things that just didn't taste very good... I also love sparkling apple cider (or apple cider of any kind really), and this is about the time I usually get it and try to keep some in the fridge at all times!
On my autumn bucket list: I would love to visit Apple Hill this year! Maybe go apple picking, or pumpkin picking, or just to walk around and enjoy the sights!!!
My favorite autumn recipe: I love to bake, but one of my favorite fall recipes comes from a box... these pumpkin pie bars from Krusteaz are amazing (if you haven't tried these, stop what you are doing and go get them! Why are you still reading? Go get them!!!)!! I also love chocolate chip banana bread! For some reason banana bread makes me think of cooler weather and colorful leaves. My mom made it all the time growing up and I have her recipe that I use to create this awesome goodness year after year! And you can always add pumpkin to the banana bread to make it extra festive!
My favorite autumn scent: Besides the crisp scent of cooler air, I love anything cinnamon spice... I know that some people might think of this as a Christmas scent, but to me, this scent starts now with autumn and goes into Christmas!!
My favorite autumn holiday: Thanksgiving! Growing up, we never had a huge gathering (we always gathered for Christmas), or even followed tradition of having turkey and mashed potatoes, but it was always special to gather together with my immediate family!
What autumn weather is like in my town: Well, I can't really speak from much experience as this is only our second year here. Last year the weather started to get cooler and stay cooler mid-late september, and we had the first snow at the end of October. I feel like we have had a pretty mild summer, so I'm not sure what to expect this year. My ideal autumn weather

I'm dreaming....
...of a colorful autumn! We have had some cool temperatures, grey skies, and wet ground off and on for the past week and a half and I have LOVED getting a little taste of what is to come! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons (with winter in a close second), I love all the colors, the brisk air, the sound of crunching leaves, the sweaters and scarves! I love it all! I have always dreamed of living in New England and I hope to one day be able to fulfill that dream!! So I have been browsing google images at pictures of autumn in New England and these are a few of my favorites! Isn't our King such an amazing artist!!
My oh my, I love that building!!! And the mountain full of trees behind it! I could see us walking Hubble on that path!!
Can you imagine this being your front yard!? I wouldn't mind seeing this everyday, no matter what season it is!
I can picture driving down this road, have some classical or jazz music on, I can just smell the fresh air!!
Are you ready for Autumn? What is your favorite season?

I have always been a sucker for covered bridges, while I've never seen one in real life, I LOVE them!!
