the liebster award

I have been blogging for about 10 months and I'm still a newbie... When I started blogging (way longer than 10 months ago) I didn't know what I was doing I didn't have a plan... well I still don't. I'm not even sure that anyone reads my blog... I mean blogger tells me that I have subscribers - but who knows if they see my posts much less even read them... so I still struggle with why I'm even blogging... who cares about my life and what I'm doing or what I've done! But a few weeks ago one of my friends mentioned something about one of my blog posts to me... I was shocked to be honest... I had no clue that she read it! So I expressed my apprehension to blogging and she said... "Do it for you!" ding ding ding! Why hadn't I ever thought about that before? So I decided then and there I would blog for myself... I would plan stuff out still if I had ideas, but I wouldn't stress about what to post, because let's face it... I'm not witty, I'm not good with words, I don't have interesting stories to tell, I'm not philosophical, I'm just plain old me.
And then this week I found out that someone nominated me for the Liebster Award! What!? Someone who I don't know personally reads my blog and wants to know more about me!??

Cass from flowers + grace nominated me and I am so honored that she chose me along with a few other lovelies for the liebster award! Thank you Cass!!

according to Joanna at Faint Not Mom the liebster award is:

"The Liebster Award is a way for new bloggers to be recognized for their great content AND to recognize other up-and-coming blogs for their wonderfulness."

Wow! I can't believe that Cass thinks I am worthy of this nomination!! Thank you again!!

1. How did you decide on your blog name and what is it about?

The Found Life - it came to me while listening to Foy Vance's song "the joy of nothing" which is basically about finding joy in the mundane the little nothings in life... you can read more about my blog name here.

2. Where does your blogging inspiration come from?

Life or other bloggers - like I said above, I'm not witty or good with words, so most of my posts are just about my life or I am following along with a prompt I found on another blog for a link up. I'm not that interesting... :/ sorry y'all!

3. Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?

-Mr. Bean is my favorite of all time
-I ask my dog and cat how their day was when I come home from being out and about
-I've had the same phone number since 2002 even though I've changed providers like 4 times and moved 4 times
-my best friend in high school and I sent ourselves on a scavenger hunt... there was no reward, but we do have pictures of the adventures from the night.
-I once wrote down word for word all of Adam Sandler's lines from the movie Billy Madison
-I (apparently) have a really long tongue?
-I collect notebooks (not intentionally, I just buy pretty ones when I see them even though I have a billion at home)
-I jump at the chance to go dance and twirl or even just stand in the rain!
-I was prom queen
-I can burp on command and most times pretty loud (thanks brothers)
-I have CSR and it affects my vision in the dark

4. What was your biggest accomplishment of 2014?

My business became official in 2014! That was a huge accomplishment for me! I had dreamed of it for years and finally made it happen! Other than that, I'd have to say being able to witness and document the birth of my goddaughter Zoey! You can see the beautiful miracle here and here!

5. What is it you love most about blogging?

I love the community! I have been introduced to so many lovely people through this little world of blogging! It's such a joy to get to know some of these ladies whose blogs I read every week!! It's also a journal for me, to see where I've been and how I've grown.

6. If you had 3 wishes what would they be?

-That I could look at a food and taste it without getting reaping any consequences from it.
-That I could watch someone workout and reap the benefits from it
-That I could talk to animals!

7. What is one country in the world you would like to visit and why?

Australia! Ever since I was in 3rd grade and I was in a play about the continents...everyone played a continent... I didn't play Australia... in fact I can't remember who I was, but I remember Australia's lines, because I was I was convinced that I could do the accent better than the girl who got Australia so I practiced the lines over and over and I can still recite it! It was then that I decided I was going to be an accent coach for actors! I planned it all out! I since have changed my dreams... But I've always thought of going there! I am fascinated with the accent, I have seen so many pictures/videos/heard stories of how incredibly beautiful it is, and because one of my best friends lives there!

8. What are you currently watching or reading?

I haven't really picked up a new book in a while... but I have been watching American Idol! And Nashville! I never cared much to start watching Nashville but about a month or so ago I just happened upon it and started with the pilot and I've been hooked ever since!

9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I have grown to dislike this question... because my answer is everywhere and at the same time one place... Growing up an Army brat I've moved around my whole life and I keep getting the itch to move every few years, but I also get the itch to buy a house and stay for a long long time... I'd love to live overseas again, but I would also love to live in Alaska again, I love the east coast and so badly want to visit New Hampshire and Maine... I can't pick one place...not yet...

10.  What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?

I go and lay in my closet. Is that weird? It's far away from the noises of the rest of the house, I can make it dark if I want. I've done it since I was little, it's a comforting place for me. Also I sometimes treat myself to a manicure/pedicure (that I do myself at home) - it's my me time... With wet nails, I can't do anything else, so it allows me time to just be.

11. Where do you see yourself in five years time?

God directs our path, so in five years we will be where ever He wants us. But by my own little heart... with my husband's job I can't quite speak on geographically where we will be, but I would love to be in a local orchestra or band or just playing music for whoever wants to hear it. Taking pictures of home life and births and Lord willing have a babe or two or three of our own!

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me and thank you again Cass for nominating me!

Reverse Bucket List

oh my goodness I can't tell you how excited I am to be co-hosting the Circle Linkup this month with Kiki!! Do you know Kiki? She is beautiful and funny and kind and encouraging and uplifting! I found her through a link up last year when I started my blog and I was just drawn to her! She just has a way with her writing that is so comfortable, like you are chatting with a close girlfriend! We quickly became friends & pen pals where we discovered that we are basically twins and have been chatting ever since! So thank you for having me as your co-host this month (and as your friend!) Kiki!

The topic this month is reverse bucket list - where you can share about things you've already crossed off of your bucket list (or as I call it my Tuesday list) you can share list of things you've crossed off your bucket list, or you can pick a few to highlight and share about!

So here is my list in no particular order!

-visited the arctic circle

-visit the pacific northwest

-driven a humvee - like a real military one yo! My dad let me drive his!

-visited the leaning tower of pissa

-walked the Sentiero Azzuro (Azure Trail) that connects the five villages of Cinque Terre

-helped build a playground for children in the Czech Republic

-ridden a train (this was not on my Tuesday list, but I count it an accomplishment since I'm super terrified of them)

-visited Disney Land Paris

-graduate college

-toured through the Neuschwanstein Castle

-saw what is believed (by some) to be Dracula's grave

-swam in the Mediterranean Sea

-snowboarded in the Alps

-hiked in the Alps

-white water rafted in Ă–tztaler Ache

-went vacation with just me and my best friend

-went to a few Christmas markets in Germany

-gone on a cruise (I've always been afraid of them because Titanic)

-learned how to play an instrument that I've always wanted to play

-own my own business

-laugh until I sound like a robot and end up losing my voice (seriously.. this happened last weekend... two different noises were coming out of my mouth at the same time and it sounded like a robot... which made me laugh even more, my stomach hurt and I lost my voice as a result! It was AMAZING)

and here is one that I am working on
-learn another language

Do you have a bucket list? Have you named it something else like I have? What have you crossed off of your list? I'd love to read about what you've done! If you want to share, add your link below!!

What's on your reverse bucket list??

currently

Wearing | my hair in a bun or a high ponytail! I have been loving having my hair longer! I've been growing it out.. although I just found some pictures of me with short hair and I'm considering cutting it... shh!

Sipping | water, ice cold water! I am terrible at getting enough water during the day, but lately I feel like I can't get enough! I tried cucumber water  (just putting slices of cucumber in water) for the first time this week and I super loved it! I can't wait to try it again!

Wishlisting | this, this, this, and this

Writing | lists. I live on lists! If you browsed through the notes on my iPhone, you would see lists, lists, and more lists!

Exploring | information on Parkinson's Disease. My grandmother was just recently diagnosed with this and short term memory loss and it's new territory. I want to learn about it and be educated in how to help her.

Linking up with Anne and Jenna!

april goals

Y'all I swear this year is flying by WAY too fast!! How is it already APRIL!?

March went by way too fast! It was awesome though!!! I mean got half way through the month before I got my goals set! Never too late though!

I ended March by sending Derek off to training and sending me off to my grandmother's for a surprise visit! It was so fun! Surprises are my favorite! So I conspired with my aunt and I drove all day being sneaky and excited only to hit 2.5 hours of Friday L.A. traffic... Where we live, we don't have traffic so it hadn't even crossed my mind that I needed to account for that! I considered getting off the freeway and trying surface streets, but I was in the second farthest left lane and getting off wasn't really going to work... about 20 minutes into the traffic... I had to go to the bathroom... then about 10 minutes later, I was starving... those both lasted about 2 hours... I finally made it to my grandma's (and to a bathroom) a few hours later than I had hoped. When I got to her house, she was closing up for the night, but opened the door to check the porch lights, and she saw me! She paused and stared at me for a minute, then asked "What are you doing here!?" as she pulled me in for a hug! Then she told me that when she saw me she had to stare for a minute because she was thinking.. "Gee, this girl sure looks like my granddaughter!" So it was a sweet surprise and she was so thrilled that we pulled it off!

last month's goals:

March
-get cello fixed (there is a small issue with one of the pieces) -yes!!! I was nervous taking it in, but I am sooo glad that I did!! It has made a WORLD of a difference!!
-practice cello 5 days a week - I practiced pretty much every day until I left for my grandma's (I think there were maybe just 2 days I didn't practice) - After Derek had left for training I even stayed up until 2am practicing!!!
-work on bookshelf - I finished sanding all the shelves and got started on the case itself!
-visit my grandma and aunt (but shh! it's a secret, my grandma doesn't know I'm coming!) - yes! This was an awesome surprise!!
-send out birthday cards - I can't cross this one off, because I can't remember if I sent them out... I had them addressed and (I think) stamped... no I can't remember if I sent them... oh no! Sorry March birthdays!!
-tackle 2 projects that I have been slacking on finishing - y'all! I can't remember what these projects were... I'm bad! I should have written this down... what's my deal yo!?
-exercise a minimum of 3 days a week - yes, I have gotten 4-5 days a week in!!
-one week of salads for dinner (I already have the recipes picked out, I just need to go through with it!) - yes! we did it!! I was afraid we were going to be so tired of salad by the time the week was through, but I think we had enough of a mix in there that it wasn't bad! If you want any of the recipes let me know!

April
-steam clean my grandma's floors
-Vegas trip with a sweet friend
-do our taxes
-spend a weekend in with my favorite Derek
-meal plan!!

What are your goals this month?
